I recently photographed True Garden, an urban farm in Mesa, Arizona, for The Washington Post. They grow 15,000 pounds of leafy greens each month using aeroponic towers that require up to 98% less water than traditional farms. As climate change worsens drought conditions, farms like this feel less like a novelty and more like a necessity. While many big-budget vertical farming ventures have folded, smaller operations like True Garden are quietly making it work. Samuel Gilbert’s story on True Garden and other vertical farms around the country is out today.
